Privacy policy
Version 1,
What SterlingCat does with information about you: what stays in your browser, what is sent and to whom, and your rights.
It applies to sterlingcat.com, which InnoviCat operates. InnoviCat's documents on innovicat.com apply to that site, not to this one.
Who is responsible
SterlingCat is operated by InnoviCat, a sole proprietorship. InnoviCat is the controller of the personal data this policy describes. Write to [email protected] or use the contact page.
What stays in your browser
- The calculators compute in your browser. The numbers you enter are not sent to InnoviCat or to anyone else.
- What you choose to keep, such as your details, invoice drafts, and your theme and currency choices, is stored in your browser's local storage on your device. The cookie policy lists each item, what it holds and how long it stays.
- A share link you copy carries your numbers in the part of its address after “#”. Anyone you send the link to can read them. When you open such a link, the site removes that part from the address bar as the page starts to load, before any analytics or ad script can load, and the calculator reads your numbers from the page's memory.
What is sent, and to whom
Delivering the pages
Your browser requests each page of this site from Cloudflare, which fetches it from the site's storage at Amazon Web Services (Amazon S3) and delivers it, so both receive a request for the page. Like any request on the web, your browser's request carries your IP address and information about your browser. The fonts are delivered by this site as well.
Analytics and ads, only if you accept
Analytics load only after you choose Accept in the privacy banner. Before you choose, and after Reject, none of their scripts loads. You can change your choice at any time with .
- Google Analytics (Google). When a site uses Google Analytics,
your web browser automatically sends certain information to Google. This includes the URL of the page you’re visiting and your IP address.
Google may also set cookies or read cookies already in your browser. How Google uses this information is linked under How to change your choice in the cookie policy. - Umami, served from analytics.innovicat.com. Umami
collects pageviews, referrer URLs, browsers, operating systems, device types, and country of origin
and sets no cookies. SterlingCat sets it to ignore the part of a page address after “#”. - Cloudflare Web Analytics (Cloudflare). It collects page timing
metrics; Cloudflare states that it
does not collect or use your visitors’ personal data.
- Google AdSense (Google).
Ads are switched off: no ad script loads and no ad is shown. When ads are on, Google's description of its advertising cookies applies to this site:
Third party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to your website or other websites.
Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to your users based on their visit to your sites and/or other sites on the Internet.
Third parties may place and read cookies in your browser, or use web beacons or IP addresses, to collect information as a result of ad serving. How to opt out of personalized advertising, and how Google uses information from the sites that use its services: How to change your choice in the cookie policy.
Amazon links
Links in “Recommended reading” go to amazon.com and carry SterlingCat's Amazon Associates tag. They load no script on this site and need no consent. If you follow one, Amazon may record that you came from this site, collect information from you, and place or recognize cookies in your browser. Amazon describes this in the Amazon.com Privacy Notice. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
The contact form
The contact form sends nothing until you tick its consent box and choose Send message. Then your browser sends your name, your email address, the topic you choose, and your message to Web3Forms, the form provider, which passes them to InnoviCat so it can answer you. You can write to [email protected] instead.
Currency rates
When you open the currency converter or the currency dialog in the header, your browser asks api.innovicat.com, InnoviCat's rate service, for the current list of currency rates. The request carries no amount and no currencies; like any request, it carries your IP address. The site keeps the list in your browser and uses a recent one again instead of asking each time.
Legal bases
